Nimbuzz Signs Major Distribution Deal with Toshiba for Its iPhone Killer Handset TG01

To keep you in the loop, Nimbuzz has just signed a major distribution agreement with Toshiba as social messaging partner for their new TG01 handset, ultra-slick iPhone killer (according to MobileCrunch)!

Blu-ray releases on February 17th 2009

What a pleasant surprise this week's releases are as there are more than a few titles worth picking up. The most notable is Changeling which is in the IMDB top 250 of all time -- which is no easy feat for a new release since IMDB's top 250 is weighted against them.

Nokia also joins Adobe initiative, Flash 10 for (almost) all

We already heard earlier today that Palm would be joining Adobe's Open Screen Project -- which, by the way, guarantees Flash 10 support on the Pre -- and now we're told that Nokia is following suit. What it all boils down to is this: Google, Microsoft, Palm, and Nokia are all expected to release platforms or handsets in the coming year or two which will support Flash 10, all while Apple's iPhone attempts to limp by with... YouTube support.

Learn about the Canonical Link Element in 5 minutes

Last week Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft announced support for a new link element to clean up duplicate urls on sites. The syntax is pretty simple: An ugly url such as http://www.example.com/page.html?sid=asdf314159265 can specify in the HEAD part of the document the following:

<link rel=”canonical” href=”http://example.com/page.html”/>

That tells search engines that the preferred location of this url (the “canonical” location, in search engine speak) is http://example.com/page.html instead of http://www.example.com/page.html?sid=asdf314159265 .

I also did a three-minute video with WebProNews after the announcement to describe the tag, and you can watch the canonical link element video for another way to learn about it. Watching the video is the easiest way to learn about this new element quickly.

The search engines have also posted about this new open standard. You can read a blog post or help center documentation from Google, Yahoo’s blog post, or Microsoft’s blog post.

Also exciting is that Joost de Valk has already produced several plug-ins. Joost made a canonical plug-in for WordPress, a plugin for e-commerce software package Magento, and also a plug-in for Drupal. I’d expect people to make plug-ins for other software packages pretty soon, or modify the software to use this link element in the core software.

Thanks to the folks at Yahoo (e.g. Priyank Garg and others) and Microsoft (e.g. Nathan Buggia and others) who built consensus to support this open standard. On the Google side, Joachim Kupke did all the implementation and indexing work to make this happen; thanks for the heavy lifting on this, Joachim. I want to send a special shout-out to Greg Grothaus as well. Although people had discussed similar ideas in the past, Greg was a catalyst at Google and his proposal really got the ball rolling on this idea; read more about it on his blog.

I’ll be happy to try to answer questions if you’ve got ‘em, or you can ask questions on the official Google webmaster blog. If you’re going to SES London this week, Google’s own Maile Ohye will be at SES London to answer questions as well.

Technology Did Not Take a Break With Internet Service

Technology is a big part of making life more comfortable, safer and when it involves the Internet technology plays a big part. One of the places technology did not take a break is with Internet service, since the beginning there has been dial up service that has made leaps to become more dependable and faster. Then there was DSL and cable Internet service, this made it possible to surf the Internet even faster, but it also had some issues with dependability. Today, these issues are for the most part corrected unless there is a problem in the wiring or the underground cable, and then there can be down time.

Where technology has made Internet service better and more dependable is with satellite Internet, this type of service does not depend on telephone wires or underground cables. The satellite dish can be used in any location, which is not true with DSL or cable Internet, they are only available in populated areas. That means living outside of a populated area they can not be used for internet service and without either of these Internet services the only other choice is dial up service. Then there is the loss of the high-speed connection to the Internet.

Having a high-speed connection to the Internet has advantages like being able to download pictures in seconds and programs in minutes, with a slow connection a simple picture can take a minute or more and a program can take hours. There are not many computer users today that have the time to sit waiting for downloads and there is no reason to wait even when you live outside the area for broadband service. That is because satellite Internet is broadband service and can be used in the city or the country.

Satellite technology is not new and it does affect many parts of life, making it more comfortable like satellite television. There are few people that do not know about satellite television and know it is a dependable way to get all the stations they want, satellite Internet has the same great ability to bring the Internet to the computer in a dependable always connected way. It is a high-speed connection that means all the sites on the Internet that require a high-speed connection are not off limits, because you live in an area where there is no DSL or cable Internet service.

Technology does not stand still and it can only make things better like it has for the Internet, there is no longer a demand to live in a populated area, or to have a high-speed Internet service that is not dependable when technology has given us satellite Internet. What makes this a dependable way to access the Internet is there are no outside forces that can disrupt the connection, like bad wires, a construction mishap or any other reason like that. As long as there is a clear view of the southern sky, the connection will remain dependable in a city of 100,000 or a rural area with a population of 20.

Hughes Net Internet is the high-speed connection people want and with Dell Gines all the latest information is available. The number one broadband company for satellite Internet is Hughes Internet Deals for the home or business in all locations.
